just calling it as i see it.

Yeah, regular updates with lots of screen shots and lots of information, a developers journal section with more updates, and Alpha testers journals section all clearly indicates a super secretive mod development team. Not to mention a maps section, a weapons sections, and media section all with lots more information and screen shots. You been hanging with DJDon lately or something?

And a non exitant fan base. I see lots of comments on moddb about people can't wait for the release, the Facebook fan page with almost 100 fans it hasn't even been around all that long and this posted there today

Almost there...Update will be today or tomorrow..I hope. If it makes you feel any better, we have all been on overdrive the past week.
Plus this forums has over 1,000 members with 66 of those visiting in the last 24 hours and 309 visitors in the last 24 hours. Not bad for a non existent fan base.

  2. believe me I hope Im wrong FA and the community was everything I loved about FPS and online gaming

i'm not talking about just the updates. they don't care if people know things.

there has also been quite a few random people that i have seen in the welcome forums that have not even posted or even been online.

this is the last post i make about this subject. i don't want to start an argument.

Edit: oh and by the way when it says how many visitors there have been you are forgetting something. every time one of us goes to the forums to log in it views us as a visitor. when we log in it still thinks that some random visitor had come by.

I would assume that the folks at OTF Nation would be more inclined to play FAS than FA2. As they all ready have a built up community there, there is little reason for them to come here to just "talk".

A_S, either way, you know better than to bring up 'that other mod' as it always leads to the same thing. If you're that skeptical, then maybe you should rethink your role as a tester? And since when do people listen to don about these things?

Basing assumptions of player base of forum membership of a mod that hasn't even been released yet is pretty bad. I'd wager a guess that most of the people here were former Firearms players anyway. There's a whole new generation of people playing HL2 mods who don't know what Firearms even was, so this game is going to be new to a whole lot of people. Which ties in with my other post about how it is really great that the team are taking their time with the mod to make it as fine tuned as possible for release.

As an example I'll point out the WII mod (wow really we needed another WWII game and a mod at that? Whoulda thunk), Resistance & Liberation; they have their mod out in alpha form for people to play. I played it like 6 or so months ago, I didn't like it, it was clearly unfinished and didn't "feel" right. Essentially I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and thus no desire to actually go back and try the game again. Of course not everybody is like me, but I'd guess a substantial number of people wouldn't go back either.

First impressions are important; stop complaining, etc.

  10. actually I look at it this way. It has to fun with fun people to play with. Updated quickly if needed. Polish can happen in fast and meaningful updates. I worry that by the time its released the whole hl2 thing mebe on the downside. Again this is not complaining I just want success for the mod

There's a ton of people laughing at me saying the same thing too.

dont worry when you eventually prove them wrong with a niceass FAS release you can rub it in their face all you want
