    Journal Entry - 10 Feb 2009

    I've been pretty busy with real-life stuff lately, so I haven't gotten as much done as I've wanted to. Typical.

    I did deliver the next FAS build, version 141, with some nice goodies in the code that I've been meaning to get included for a while. The next news update is well on its way to being created, and will show you guys some of the other assault rifles that are missing from the weapons page, plus a new map that hasn't been seen yet. If you haven't done so already, be sure to stop by our Moddb page at http://www.moddb.com/mods/firearmssource.

    One thing I'd like to hear is what people think about clan gaming and what we can do to support that as developers. Are there any thoughts on that topic? Maybe specialized server cvars we can implement? Certain code? Is there a wishlist out there?

    For clan gaming, some sort of start timer settings for rounds to start/end would be a good one. Maybe the ability to have squads with squad leaders? Ability to force weapon selections?

    Pre-match mode is a must. Like in TF2 where there's a countdown, an announcer and all the players are spawned and frozen.

    In clan mode hide individual scores and then only display them for the final score board? Force a screenshot to be taken by all clients at that time ? You'll still have an idea as you're getting skill upgrades but it won't be as obvious.

    I'd like to try and keep this on topic so we can continue to get good replies. Good clan support is a must for the long-term.

    We do have a prematch mode, but it currently has no HUD element associated with it. I can see where having a timer and a notification would be helpful.

    Keep the ideas coming.

    This is more of a pet peeve, than anything else, but is it possible that in a prematch mode, the guns are disabled?

    There is nothing more annoying than being TKed, while your leader is trying to get everyones attention and lay out a plan.

    Beside the distraction of the gunfire (noise) and the fact that you are distracted while rejoining the game instead of paying attention to your leaders instructions.

    I remember this as being an issue during testing as well, whenever you try to explain what we are suppose to be testing.

    Disabling the guns in this mode would be a major step in my opinion.

    i believe that is already implemented by hitman. mp_ceasefire 0. I recall us using it in testing.

    Good suggestion. I actually added that a few builds ago. It's called mp_ceasefire.

    lol. You hear that Fenix... no more of your accidental grenade discharges!

    Another suggestion. How about making clan match settings a bit more "hardcore" than regular pub mode? E.g. make the armour absorb less damaged, the max speed a bit faster and the guns less accurate?

    Don't you mean guns more accurate?

    "Weapons supplied by cheap and unreliable supplier"

    Basically every gun jams very often and there is a chance of a complete magazine being filled with blanks.

    Doom mode where there is no reloading and all the weapons are centered.

    Yes I went there.


    Also, another suggestion (coming off of Grunts voice post in input). Turn off voice comms for all dead players or make sure that if you are in spectator mode, the playing teams can't hear you. I know most games do this but just wanted to make sure it wasn't overlooked.
