Thread: PS_Crossfire, M3, and M79 Showcase

  1. #16
    The M3 is indeed a semi-auto shotgun.
The reason it looks like a pumpaction shotgun, is because it is designed to fire many different types of ammo. Most less-than-lethal rounds wont be able to cycle the bolt. so when using low power ammunition you switch it to pumpaction.

Dear Christ, that is the sexiest M3 I have ever seen. Also, that map wants me to have its babies, shinublet. GJ!

Did I mention that our modeling team, hell our art team in general, are possibly the best thing to happen to viewmodel art in evar?

they actually are in game, I was debating whether to put in those shots or not, it didn't fit the theme of our news posts. Look forward to seeing this (and the other previous weapons) featured in a gameplay video in the near future.

Someone tell them at interlopers it's more important how the map plays than how it looks.

it's a mapping community. i've found they are particularly keen on details in maps. personally, i've found it to be very helpful. one comment that stuck out in my mind was the one that went something like "what kind of weapon could hit a building, nearly destroying the entire thing, and leave the crates on the top floor untouched."

the reason why this is an interesting thing to note: a buddy at work is into 3d modeling. so obviously, he goes to internet communities which revolve around that. same sort of thing as lopers, except about XSI and 3DSM and the such. Though he's a VERY talented artist, one thing that we were JUST TODAY talking about (odd coincidence imo) is how they helped him understand the need for anatomy studies. just like how i hit flickr and review the facades group when working on my building exteriors.

somethings you might not directly notice (like how I didn't notice those crates) are still noticed by the brain, you just don't pick up on it. and since you did notice it, you tend to feel that something isn't quite right and thus tend to not like it. work-dudes example was regarding the muscular structure of his most recent character project. though it did look right, and very nice, once someone pointed a few things out, he understood why it looked odd to him. once it was fixed, he was AMAZED at how much better it looked to him, even though there were only slight adjustments made to the upper arm.

the Team can expect this type of map review from me. or at least i'll try to notice things like that. once it was pointed out that the building was 1/2 obliterated, but the stupid wooden crates were fine, the scene did look odd, but i knew why this time.

    Spoiler:

I think that if one surveys enough shelled buildings, they would notice some things that have been reality untouched despite the destruction around them. This dose not break the immersion unless it is overly prevalent though out the map. On the contrary, it would make the map more "real" because not everything is perfect; the artillery didn't perfectly destroy everything. If it did so, the map would still have the same level of imperfection as before with perfectly destroyed buildings
